Plan for another Black Lives Matter protest in Nottingham revealed

Another protest will take place in Nottingham in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Scores of people took part in the initial peaceful Forest Recreation Ground protest on Sunday, June 7, after the death of George Floyd in America.

Involving the Notts TUC and other activists who organised the first demonstration in the city, the latest protest will again take place at the Forest Recreation Ground - this time on Sunday, June 28.

A statement on the Workers United Against Racism and the Far-Right event's Facebook page read: "Join this protest, bring placards and banners, including trade union branch banner."

It will start from 1pm and is expected to last until 3pm.

After the initial protest earlier this month, a small minority made their way to the city centre and defaced the Council House in Old Market Square.

The vandalism prompted 18-year-old protester Storm Bennett Baker, of Bulwell, and her friends to clean up the mess.
