Plain clothed police will patrol Daisy Nook Country Park in Oldham tonight to deter people from holding illegal raves at the beauty spot.

One man died of a suspected drug overdose after thousands of people gathered for a party at the site on June 14.

Another huge illegal rave was held in Carrington during the same weekend.

There have been further block parties held in Moston, Blackley and Moss Side.

Many of the events resulted in physical and sexual assaults.

Police have been urging members of the public to stay away from illegal raves.

In a post on the GMP Tameside South and West Facebook page on Saturday, officers said: "WARNING - to any groups who are thinking of attending Daisy Nook country park to participate in Illegal Rave activities, simple request please stay away.

"GMP will have Hi-Viz officers and plain clothes officers out on patrol through out the country park."
