Plain-clothed officer 'jumps' into action at the Meadows in Edinburgh to catch suspects

Passersby were left shocked by a ruckus in Edinburgh this morning when a plain clothes officer jumped into action.

The incident near the Meadows, which took place on Argyle Place outside Meadowlark Yoga, is believed to have involved a group of three "guys".

According to witnesses, the officer "jumped" on one suspect before the other two males at the scene ran off, escaping police custody.

It is understood police are still searching the area in "unmarked police cars" in a bid to find the further two suspects who got away.

An eyewitness told Edinburgh Live: "We saw a police officer in plain clothing jump on one guy while two others ran off, just off the Meadow this morning.

"They are still trying to get the others, and unmarked police cars are roaming around.

"Not a normal sight on the Meadows."
