Places you need to try in Belfast: Newly opened Seven Coffee is perfect spot for morning catch up

The last number of months have been challenging with restrictions putting a hold to most of our every day normalities, especially dining and catching up with friends.

As part of our Belfast is Back campaign, we are highlighting some top spots around Belfast perfect for a bite to eat, pint of beer or coffee and a sandwich.

Only having opened one week ago, a West Belfast café is attracting scores of men, women, children and dogs through their doors each day.

Seven Coffee, based on the Glen Road, was opened by local woman Seáinty Ní Chorraidh, who grew up just a stone throw away from her new venture.

Speaking to Belfast Live as part of the campaign, she said they've had a busy first week and are looking forward to what the future holds.

"I have been working in coffee shops for over 20 years and always thought, growing up in the area, that it was crying out for a good coffee shop. It is something I have always wanted to do. My mummy passed away last year and left me a few pounds to open my dream coffee shop. I am 35 now and I thought, if I don't do it now I never will.

"I was walking down the street and spotted the To Let sign and couldn't believe it. My partner phoned up and within a week we had the keys, it was almost like it was meant to be.

"It was stressful getting contractor work done because we had to knock down walls and things like that but it was really enjoyable. I had hoped to open Easter weekend and it didn't happen. When we opened, we have were hammered, which is excellent.

"We did do a door service on the first week, but now we are allowing customers to come in to place their orders. There is nowhere on this long stretch of road like this."

Situated close to the main Falls Park entrance, Seáinty says her shop is the perfect location for dog walkers, runners or walkers to stop by for a drink and tray bake.

A dog lover herself, the 35-year-old said Seven Coffee is very pet friendly, with free treats given out to dogs with "every human order".

"We are a deli bar so offer fresh toasties, gourmet sausage rolls and have an extended treat menu too. Over the last two weeks people have been going mad for our special toastie, the S Club 7. It's our take on a club sandwich but has seven ingredient.

"I just want to thank the customers for their support. It has been so overwhelming but I have really enjoyed it. This isn't work to me because I am loving it so much. Bridget, our full time staff member, has been incredible. She has been killing it. We have another girl Sophie, who is also fantastic. I am so appreciative of the girls for their hard work. I can't thank them enough, we couldn't have done this without them.

"When people come in here it's just typical West Belfast - a big smile and a hello. We have had such great craic and want that atmosphere to continue. We'll offer good service, good food and good craic. We can't wait to see what the future holds and look forward to seeing and meeting new customers."
