Places to watch River of Light 2019 if the kids are scared of the noise or crowds

The night sky above the River Mersey will dazzle with an amazing fireworks display on November 3 to celebrate Bonfire Night.

The huge River of Light event will draw crowds to the waterfront on both sides of the water.

Although it's set to be a brilliant family day out, it could prove too much for children who might be frightened by the big bangs and the bustle of the crowds.

But don't worry, there are some great places you can go to avoid the chaos and still enjoy the show.

The actual River of Light event is taking place at the Pier Head and at New Brighton , but if your little ones are afraid of the noise and crowds then here are some alternative places to enjoy the festival from.

On Liverpool's waterfront

Chavasse Park

Away from crowds at the waterfront you will still be able to see the fireworks in the night sky at the top of Chavasse Park.

And you're close to the shops and restaurants if you want to grab some early Christmas presents or a bite to eat.

Everton Brow

The view from the top of Everton Brow is breath-taking with a vantage point of the whole city.

You won't be able to miss the fireworks going off at the waterfront.

Kings Parade

Kings Parade runs the whole length from Liverpool Marina to the M&S Bank Arena and is not the most obvious place to stand on the waterfront, so may be less crowded than by the Three Graces.

On Wirral's waterfront

Wallasey Town Hall

The steps of Wallasey Town Hall are the perfect place to sit and watch the fireworks. There are also grass verges with benches and places for you to sit or stand on the embankment for a great view of the River Mersey.

Rock Ferry Promenade

Right on the River Mersey, Rock Ferry Prom is likely to be less crowded, although it may not be very well lit and obviously take care if you going on to the beach at night. Wrap up warm and bring a torch.

Port Sunlight River Park

The River Park will be open to view the fireworks until 7pm.

Watch at home

You can watch all the action at home!

If you can't be dealing with hassle of the crowds or the noise really will be too much for the kids - you can still watch the dazzling lights of the display from the comfort of your own home.

The Liverpool ECHO What's On team will be filming the fireworks display live and you can follow all the action from event with live updates on our blog from your phone or computer.
