The Government has confirmed a change to its rules surrounding the need for a substantial meal when wanting alcohol.
Originally the Government set out guidance which meant all hospitality businesses would need to serve what it described as a "substantial meal" when serving alcohol and venue which could not provide this would need to remain closed under tier 2 measures.
However the Government has now U-turned on that decision, announcing that alcohol can in fact be purchased at ticketed events.
That means that fans will be able to get an alcoholic drink at concert halls, theatres, sports grounds and cinemas, reports MEN.
It is understood smaller venues such as pubs which offer live music will still need to adhere to the substantial meal rule.
The new guidance says alcohol must be "ordered by, and served to, a customer who has a ticket for an exhibition of a film, a performance or an event of training or competition at the venue, to consume in the area where the audience is seated to watch the exhibition, performance or event"
Those in Tier 2 will also be able to order alcohol without a meal to hotel rooms as room service.
The Liverpool City Region was confirmed as Tier 2 last week after the number of positive cases dropped. It means all pubs, bars and restaurants can reopen as long as they serve food.
However, nearby towns such as Ormskirk and cities such as Manchester are placed in tier 3 which means hospitality businesses can only open for takeout or delivery.
