PJ Gallagher perfectly sums up mood in Ireland ahead of France v England

Comedian PJ Gallagher perfectly summed up the mood of the Irish nation ahead of England's World Cup quarter-final with France on Saturday night.

Gareth Southgate's side face Les Bleus for a place in the last four of the competition against Morocco.

Funny-man Gallagher took to Twitter to say: "Tonight we are all a baguette."

The Dubliner was referencing a video that went viral last month of Irishman Eddie O’Keeffe at the tournament in Qatar.

He interrupted a French TV broadcas to shout “Je suis une baguette”, which translates to "I am a baguette".

Meanwhile, England have named an unchanged side for the quarter-final clash with holders France.

Southgate stuck with the same starting XI that won 3-0 over Senegal in the last-16 as England returned to Al Bayt Stadium aiming to reach consecutive World Cup semi-finals.

Raheem Sterling was named on the bench having missed the Senegal victory after returning to the UK to deal with an incident at his home.

Southgate intimated in the build-up to the game that he would retain a back four rather than adopt a more defensive approach and he stuck to his word.

France also made no alterations from the team which beat Poland 3-1 to reach the last eight, with five-goal Kylian Mbappe among their line-up.
