A Liverpool takeaway’s plans to open until 3am have been criticised by a ward councillor who is worried it could lead to more fights nearby.
Pizza City, at 52 Kensington on the edge of the city centre, is set to go before the council’s licensing and gambling sub-committee next week in an attempt to get approval for the proposals.
The takeaway, formerly knowns as Abe’s, can currently open until 1am during the week and until 2am during weekends.

It is the latest in a series of premises across the city which has have drawn criticism for attempting to push back their closing time into the early hours the morning.
However, city centre ward councillor Nick Small has objected to the proposals, warning they could lead to increased cases of violence and worsen litter issues in the area.
Councillor Small said: “I believe that extending the late night refreshment licence and opening hours to 3am every night of the week would attract large numbers of people to the area, many of whom will have been drinking, and this would result in fights and violence outside the premises, breaching this licensing objective.”
He added that he believed extended opening hours would also increase litter and put further pressure on the council’s environment and streetscene workers.
The owners of Pizza City will have the chance to defend their proposals before councillors this week.
The council’s licensing and gambling sub-committee will consider the proposals on Monday.
