PizzaStorm in Nottingham city centre closes its doors for good

Nottingham shoppers and diners have spoken of their sadness at seeing a city centre restaurant shut its doors for good.

PizzaStorm, in Milton Street, allowed diners to create their own pizzas from over 50 different toppings.

Initially named Inferno Pizza which opened in 2015, the restaurant underwent a £250,000 revamp with a new name, new decor and an updated menu.

But the eatery, which is opposite the intu Victoria Centre, has now closed its doors permanently and thanked its customers for their support.

A sign on the restaurant door said: "Closed for business. Unfortunately it's time to say goodbye.

"PizzaStorm is now closed but we would like to thank all of our customers for their loyalty and support."

The exact reason for the closure is unclear, but passers-by said it was "a huge shame" to see a restaurant closed in a prominent location.

Kirsty Allen, 29, of Mapperley, said: "I have eaten there once with my mum and really liked it. It was a good range of toppings and choices and wasn't too expensive.

"I think the issue is there's so much choice in Nottingham. It might have been drowned out by the competition.

"It's a really good location, with a lot of people passing it a day. So I shouldn't think it would be sat closed for long."

Gary Barker, 50, of Sneinton, added: "Of course it's a huge shame to see. People worked there who now have to find something else.

"There's a lot of restaurants in Nottingham so I'm not that surprised to be honest. Another business will have to think carefully about what goes there next.

"I never ate at the place myself, but it looks nice inside."

Paul McClaren, 44, of Lady Bay, added: "I think the Victoria Centre will pull a lot of footfall its way and other businesses near it may miss out.

"It's always sad to see a place close. But it's just business and common in busy cities for there to be a big turnaround. I'll keep an eye on what it becomes."
