Pizza Hut in Bristol city centre emptied after sudden closure

Pictures show a deserted Pizza Hut in Bristol city centre after its sudden closure.

The pizzeria had been a staple of St Augustine's Parade for over a decade, with an image taken from Google Maps in 2008 showing it open.

But the restaurant has recently closed and is now completely empty. The most recent review of the restaurant on Google was left two weeks ago - and the disgruntled reviewed only awarded it one star.

The would-be customer wrote: "Website says they have tables for today. However when tried to book they said an error has occurred. So rang them. A very rude lady on the phone about 14:40 answered said “Yes, we’re fully booked” no trying to accommodate. I wouldn’t bother. Obviously don’t need the money."

Overall on Google the branch had a rating of 3.9 / 5 from 564 reviews.

A notice on the window states that the branch has relocated to Aspects Leisure Park in Hanham. There are also branches of the nationwide chain remaining in Bedminster, Cribbs Causeway, Fishponds, Southmead and Kingswood.

The empty unit on St Augustine's Parade stands next to another vacant shop that used to be Dom's Coffee House, which shut in October 2019.

In September 2020 Pizza Hut announced it was closing 29 branches across the UK, with the expected loss of about 450 jobs. One of the branches to close as part of this wave was Weston-super-Mare.

At the time, a spokeswoman for Pizza Hut said: “We are doing everything we can to redeploy our team members from our Pizza Hut Restaurants locations that are closing and minimise the impact to our workforce.

“We are therefore unable to share exact job loss numbers for each Hut.

“We understand this is a difficult time for everyone involved and are supporting our team members as much as possible throughout this transition.”
