Pizza Express is giving away free dough balls on top of half price food as it reopens

Pizza Express has said people dining in next month will get a free portion of dough balls with every main course they order.

And that's on top of the 50% off people eating on Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays will get after the chain signed up to the Government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

The deal tops out at £10 a head - and doesn't include booze - but you can use it as many times as you like as long as you're eating on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Pizza Express managing director Zoe Bowley said: “All of our open restaurants will be very happily supporting the Eat out to Help Out scheme in August, which will give our customers outstanding value for money.

"We’re working hard to provide the Pizza Express experience that our customers love in a safe and responsible way, as we bring back our freshly handmade pizza to even more locations as soon as we can.”

The chain will have almost 200 restaurants operating again for people to eat in by Thursday, 6 August.

On top of the 46 locations already serving customers in dining rooms, 71 restaurants are reopening on Thursday 30 July and another 88 will join them on Thursday 6 August.

And while the 50% discount only works form Monday to Wednesday, the free dough balls offer is valid all day, every day, to Monday 31st August when dining in.

Each reopened pizzeria has "robust" measures in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and customers, Pizza Express said.

These include a new, physically distanced, layout; hand sanitiser stations; heightened hygiene procedures and cleaning measures along with regular health checks of team members.

Pizza Express has also brought in a new online booking service, as well as a new digital menu and cashless payment to assist and reassure customers.
