Pizza delivery driver found guilty of attempting to murder his wife by stabbing her repeatedly

A depressed pizza delivery driver has been found guilty of trying to kill his wife in a frenzied attack.

A jury convicted Habibullah Faizi, 40, of Newquay Avenue, Bobbers Mill, of attempted murder after deliberations at Nottingham Crown Court.

He will be sentenced on August 19.

Faizi repeatedly stabbed Asole Faizi in a bedroom at their home in the early hours of January 2.

He remembered saying to his wife that he wanted to have sex with her - but after that he became depressed, and said "I don't remember what happened," the jury had heard.

His wife, who is from Lithuania, had told the jury how her husband of 14 years grabbed her by the hair and "he just kept on stabbing".

She had an underlying fractured skull, punctured lung and a puncture to her small intestine.

Jeremy Janes, prosecuting, had said: "This case concerns a frenzied attack by Mr Faizi on his wife, Mrs Faizi, in the early hours of January 2."

Rachel Darby, defending, asked Mr Faizi - who had the help of an interpreter on the witness stand: "How did you feel towards your wife around that time?"

He said: "From the beginning until now, I love my wife".

Asked if he had any intention to kill her, he said: "I can swear and put my hand, no."
