Pixie Lott reveals failed attempts at improving her cooking during lockdown

Pixie Lott says she hoped to become a better cook in lockdown — but gave up after burning her hand while microwaving soup.

The singer, 29, has been at home in London with her fiancé Oliver Cheshire. “I have never really been a good cook, never been good in the kitchen,” she said. “I am good at overnight oats, but that is easy. Anything that is a bit more involved — I am not good.

“I wanted to try [and get better] and I tried to do some microwave soup at the start of lockdown and I burnt my hand really badly so I haven’t cooked since. I haven’t improved my cookery skills at all. I have not cooked anything since then.”

But Lott added: “I have learned how to make margaritas. That is a life skill.”

She had to cancel shows and festival appearances because of the lockdown, but has been performing on Instagram — although she misses having an audience. She said: “I am not sure when shows will be allowed to happen again. I miss that. That is my favourite thing to do in the world.

"I have been singing in my shower and bits on Instagram but it is not the same. It is weird with the livestream gigs, you finish the song and then you don’t know what to do as there is no audience there. Usually someone claps…"

She has also become an ambassador for Alpro oat milk and is one of the faces of its Make Yours Oat campaign.
