Yes! If you haven't encountered a game like this before, you will be happy to hear that there is an in-depth tutorial system that covers:

  • Movement mechanics - Basic movements, Teleportation and Mini Maps
  • Shooting mechanics - How to attack and aim
  • Looting system - Collecting items and equipment
  • Equipment management - Equipping and upgrading gear
  • Status Effects - Learning about Hazards and how they affect you
  • Quest system - Finding and completing objectives
  • Platform-specific controls - Separate tutorials for PC and Mobile players

The Pixel Quest dev team created an informative but not too lengthy tutorial. Their goal is for you to grasp the basic mechanics so you can jump into action as soon as possible. Depending on whether you're playing on PC or mobile, you'll get platform-optimized instructions.

Does Pixel Quest have a Story and Deep Lore?

Pixel Quest is primarily focused on exploration and combat, but the story is definitely part of the experience - just not in a traditional way. You'll get a glimpse of the story and Robloxia lore once you start your adventure.

Story Elements on Launch

At release, the story will primarily unfold through gameplay and map exploration. There are multiple ways to learn more about the Pixel Quest story:

  • NPC Dialogue - Talk to characters throughout the world
  • Boss Encounters - Learn about threats through boss fights
  • Map Locations - Environmental storytelling in different biomes
  • Item Descriptions - Lore hidden in equipment and collectibles
  • World Exploration - Piecing together what happened to Robloxia

Future Story Plans

The developers love story and plan to continue from where the launch trailer left off. After release, expect:

  • More direct story elements and events
  • Story-driven updates expanding the narrative
  • Special events that advance the plot
  • Deeper lore will be revealed through major content updates

How the Permadeath System Works in Pixel Quest?

Yes, Pixel Quest features permadeath! This is a PVE permadeath game where dying means losing your character. However, before you panic, understand that the system is designed to make each death meaningful, as that's part of the progress. The Pixel Quest splits progression into two categories:

1. Character Progression (Lost on Death)

  • Your current character's level
  • Equipped items and inventory (except Vault items)
  • Active quests and immediate progress

2. Account Progression (Permanent)

  • Special currency earned from character achievements
  • Permanent upgrades that apply to ALL characters
  • Cosmetics unlocked for your account
  • Achievement completions
  • Vault storage

If you feel like you are in danger of dying but don't want to give up your run just yet, you can use the Recall function to go back to the safe haven from the Overworld. This ensures you keep all of your items and level upgrades, while also refilling your Health and Mana bars

What Happens When You Die?

When your character dies, it doesn't mean it's game over. It's, in fact, a quick start with a stronger character.

  1. You earn special currency called Valor based on how much you achieve with that character.
  2. You keep your account progression - permanent upgrades, cosmetics, achievements.
  3. You can access your Vault - items stored here transfer to your next run
  4. You start a new run with your account bonuses, making you stronger than before

How Does The Vault System Work?

The Vault is a crucial Pixel Quest mechanic that lets you store items that persist through death. You can transfer items between your characters, keep precious equipment safe from permadeath, plan by storing gear for future runs, and build up a collection of valuable items over time.

You should only save the best Gear since the Vault has only 8 slots. If you are willing to pay, you can purchase 8 more for 300 Robux. If you get duplicates of the gear you like, then I suggest Recalling to Haven and going to the Vault, or you might regret it on your next run (talking from experience).

Best Way to Spend Resources in Pixel Quest

Each run will reward you with resources like Valor, giving you a better chance of success next time. However, this mechanic has not been implemented into the game yet. You can purchase items from the Shop, as well as more Character and Vault Slots, but so far only by using Robux. When possible, you should get the Lucky Clover which temporarily boosts your Loot luck.

The Pixel Quest Grind Guide

Every character death in Pixel Quest is just one step towards your goal and a chance to start another run where you get more resources to improve your character. This creates a satisfying loop:

  1. Start a new run
  2. Explore, fight, collect loot
  3. Complete achievements and challenges
  4. Store valuable items in the Vault (Recall back to Haven to avoid dying prematurely)
  5. Die and earn currency from your run
  6. Spend currency in the Shop at Haven
  7. Start a new run with stored Equipment and Weapons to quickly clear the early sections

Achievement System

The Achievement system is currently unavailable in the game, but should be coming soon. From what we know, achievements should reward players who complete challenges with:

  • Consumables - Useful items for your adventure
  • Cosmetics - Show off your accomplishments
  • Account-Wide Upgrades - Permanent power increases

Achievements create goals beyond just "don't die" and reward exploration, combat mastery, dungeon completion, and more. They're a key part of account progression.

Pixel Quest Combat Basics - How to Survive

Pixel Quest is a bullet hell survivor-like game, which means lots of enemies will shoot at you all the time! If you don't have experience with these types of games, follow this simple (are they?) rules:

  • Dodge constantly - Weave between bullets
  • Attack strategically - Find safe moments to restore Health and Mana (either through Potions, Skills or just by waiting)
  • Stay aware - Watch multiple enemy patterns simultaneously
  • Practice patterns - Learn boss attack sequences

How to Farm Health and Mana Potions

Whenever you start a new run (unless you've stocked up on healing Skills in the Vault), you'll want to Farm at least two Stacks of Health and Mana Potions each. The easiest location to do this at is the Beach, especially if you already have better weapons and have leveled up a lot (i.e. you haven't died recently), since they will be quicker to kill. Regular enemies in other sections will also drop them, but they will be more dangerous, harder to kill and deal more damage. Beach enemies are just easy kills with the least amount of harm coming your way.

Best Weapons and Skills for Early Game

There are plenty of loadouts you can create as you progress through the game, but you will be pretty limited early on. From my experience, melee weapons such as the Broadsword are great at clearing regular enemies in a group by dealing quite a bit of damage. However, when encountering Bosses and Mini Bosses, the better option are some of the Ranged Weapons, either a Staff (Oak for example), or a Bow and Arrow of better quality than the Hunting one.

When it comes to Skills, you will often get the same stuff over and over again. For better variety, attack the Bosses on the Beach. The Mermaid usually drops great Skill and, once you defeat her, enter the Mermaid Cove for a chance of another good Skill. When it comes to solo Damage at the start, Bombs are the most worth it, and are great for regular enemies especially with the additional Burn Effect.

However, if you are fighting with a group of other players, then having some healing Skills like the Totems, or AoE Buffs like the Flags (which boost your SPD, ATK, and DEF stats) is important. It doesn't matter who kills the enemy, so long as its dead, you will all get loot, so it's better to have both a solo Skill and a team-up Skill saved up in your Inventory, and you can switch them out when necessary.
