A day before the first football game between Pitt and Penn State in 16 years, two Pitt students are camped at Gate A of Heinz Field in hopes of getting front-row seats for Saturday's contest.
Rosemary Agbeh and Leah McCormick have been encamped on the concrete sidewalk since about the time the sun rose with little more than a handful of umbrellas and blankets.
"We've been here since like 7 a.m.," said Agbeh, a 20-year-old native of Carbondale, Ill. "A little bit earlier. So we just put down blankets. It hasn't been that bad."
Said McCormick, a 21-year-old from Toledo, Ohio: "We figure this game, they haven't played each other in 16 years. It's going to be really good."
Agbeh and McCormick have student season tickets, but the actual seating arrangement at Heinz Field is essentially "first-come, first serve" within the student sections.
"We've been front row for every football game since freshman year," said Agbeh, a communication science and disorders major. "We knew this was a big game, so we knew we had to camp out."
Each student arrived prepared to pass the time.
"We brought a laptop with Netflix," said McCormick, a marketing major. "There (are) outlets, we've already checked. We already scoped out the land."
Neither student had any classes Friday, and each professed enjoyment to their two-person camp on a muggy, overcast day.
"We like staying out here," Agbeh said. "We love being front row. For us, this is fun."
