PitPat launches GPS and fitness tracker in one for dogs

PitPat has launched its brand new GPS tracker for dogs - and its stock sold out in just a matter of days.

The new GPS tracker combines PitPat’s original dog activity tracker - a Fitbit for dogs - with new GPS technology to allow dog owners to track their dog on a map via an app on their phones.

According to The Kennel Club , which gathered information from 36 of the 45 police forces in the UK, there were around 2,355 cases of dog theft in the UK in 2020, a figure seven per cent higher than 2019.

Sale prices for dogs went through the roof during the pandemic and pet theft has only recently been made its own criminal offence, making it an attractive way of making quick money for criminals.

PitPat’s new tracker will strive to combat this, as well as dogs who just get a bit lost.

The tracker had more than 10,000 registrations on the waiting list before the launch at CES 2022, a technology event in Las Vegas where the brand represented the UK.

Dog GPS trackers have littered the market for several years, but this combines new technologies to ensure the small size which attaches to a collar, a long battery life and good coverage and network.

It costs £149 with no ongoing subscription costs, and is available in five colour ways.

Speaking ahead of CES 2022, CEO Andrew Nowell said: “When we set out to make the PitPat Dog GPS Tracker, we knew it had to stand up to the high standards that our customers expect from us.

“Like all our products, it’s been developed specifically with dogs in mind, from the exceptional technology at its heart, to the compact, waterproof design and industry-leading battery life.

“With our PitPat Dog Activity Monitor we’ve already helped thousands of pet parents keep their dogs fit and healthy.

“Now we also them peace of mind that they can find their dog if the unexpected happens, or check in on their dog’s location or activity whilst they are apart, making PitPat a must-have for all pet parents”

PitPat is based in Cambridge and manufactures their devices in the UK.
