Pitchside camera captured Harry Maguire's order shouted to Marcus Rashford before goal vs Newcastle

Pitchside cameras have picked up the words of encouragement Harry Maguire shouted to Marcus Rashford during the build-up to his opening goal against Newcastle.

In the Sunday evening kick-off at Old Trafford, Manchester United returned to second place in the Premier League table courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Steve Bruce's strugglers.

Rashford opened the scoring last night, cutting inside from the left for a trademark finish, while winger Dan James and Bruno Fernandes were also on target - the latter from the penalty spot.

Allan Saint-Maximin had levelled for Newcastle shortly after Rashford's strike - which came 30 minutes in following some words of guidance from his United captain and England team-mate.

In audio picked up by pitchside cameras, Maguire shouted: "Get in the box. Go on Rashy! Take him on."

Portuguese playmaker Fernandes advised him 'shoot', before shouting 'well done Rashy' when his attempt flew past Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow and into the back of the net.

On the back of his advice en route to goal, Maguire added: "Come on you."

The match was also notable for Shola Shoretire coming on for his Manchester United debut.

The Newcastle-born attacker came on for the final three minutes and injury time against the Magpies, with United recording a 3-1 win.

Speaking after the game, Solskjaer predicted big things for the talented teenager.

“He’s going to play many games for us if he keeps doing what he's doing, he's training really, he’s a good boy with a good head on him and hopefully he’ll have a really good career for us," Solskjaer told MUTV.
