INDIANAPOLIS The Detroit Pistons' third quarter offensive numbers were ghastly Saturday.
They committed 11 turnovers.
They made only four shots.
They managed only 14 points.
The Indiana Pacers took advantage of the Pistons' miscues and ran away with a 105-84 victory at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, extending their winning streak to six games.
The Pacers (28-22) didn't need an explosive scoring night from Paul George, who finished with 21 points on 9-for-14 shooting. Not when the Pistons (23-28) committed 16 turnovers in the second half, managing only 26 points.
Six Pacers scored in double figures.
Marcus Morris led the Pistons with 19 points and Jon Leuer added 14 points.
Andre Drummond scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but committed six turnovers.
Morris, Leuer and Stanley Johnson took turns guarding George in the first half _ not that it did any good as he scored 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting by halftime.
A George jumper that was eventually ruled a 3-pointer gave the Pacers a 54-47 lead at the 2:31 mark of the second quarter.
But Morris capped an 11-2 run to end the first half with a three-pointer with 3.9 seconds left that just beat the shot clock to account for the Pistons' 58-56 halftime lead.
Morris had 12 points, Leuer scored 10.
Van Gundy was asked about the team's lack of success against George before the game.
"Our guys play hard against him, he's just played great against us and he's a guy we haven't had much success against so we'll try some things a little bit differently," Van Gundy said. "Hopefully, he will miss some shots.
"There's only so many things you can do, but you gotta throw some different looks at him, I think."
