Pistons fall to Grizzlies, 125-112, despite Derrick Rose's 11th consecutive 20-point game

DETROIT _ Likely rookie of the year Ja Morant visited Little Caesars Arena for the first time Friday night.

But it was Jaren Jackson Jr., the former Michigan State standout, who put his stamp on the Memphis Grizzlies' 125-112 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Jackson scored 24 of his game-high 29 points in the first half and his 3-pointer with 3:06 remaining gave the Grizzlies a six-point lead on the way to sending the injury-depleted Pistons to a loss.

Morant played an excellent floor game with 16 points and 12 assists as the Grizzlies (21-24) pulled away late.

Derrick Rose scored 22 points to lead the Pistons (17-29), his 11th straight game of scoring 20-plus points. He added eight assists.

Christian Wood scored 20 points and Reggie Jackson added 14 points and six assists in his second game after missing 42 straight with a back injury.

Dillon Brooks added 27 points for the Grizzlies.

The Pistons have yielded 100-plus points for 25 straight games, the longest current streak in the NBA.

The Grizzlies took a 66-61 lead into halftime, the key sequence coming late in the first quarter when the Pistons yielded a 14-0 run with Tim Frazier at point guard.

Pistons coach Dwane Casey started Jackson and Rose, forcing minutes for Frazier, who missed Wednesday night's victory over the Sacramento Kings.

Frazier played only four minutes, but Casey adjusted the rotation in the second half, starting Langston Galloway in place of Jackson. The move allowed Casey to stagger Rose's and Jackson's minutes.

Tony Snell (illness) joined Andre Drummond (lip/tooth) and Bruce Brown (illness) on the injury list. Drummond and Brown missed consecutive games.

Blake Griffin (knee) and Luke Kennard (both knees) were dressed in street clothes.

With the Pistons down so many bodies, Casey turned to two-way contract player Louis King to start the second quarter.

The rookie from Oregon was solid. He played nine minutes in the first half and did not look lost. Jackson found him for a corner 3-pointer at the 10:27 mark, cutting the deficit to 37-30.

King came in with Jackson at the 5:17 mark of the third quarter.

He finished with three points in 14 minutes. He grabbed four rebounds.
