After watching the Detroit Pistons miss 3-point attempts in Tuesday night's loss to the Boston Celtics, you are left with a question.
How did Luke Kennard ever receive a DNP-coach's decision?
Kennard is out with a right shoulder sprain, so it was a moot point in the Pistons' 108-105 loss at TD Garden.
But after only shooting 8-for-30 from 3-point range in the second loss to the Celtics in four nights, you begin to wonder why Pistons coach Dwane Casey didn't play Kennard in one game earlier this season.
The Pistons (4-2) were more competitive after Saturday night's 20-point loss.
The Pistons, who once trailed by 14, pulled to within one point at 90-89 with 4:21 left. But the Celtics (5-2) answered with a 6-0 run to take a 96-89 lead with 3:10 left.
Ish Smith nailed a 3-pointer with 11.2 seconds left to cut the Celtics lead to 103-102. Jayson Tatum hit two free throws and a Smith turnover prevented the Pistons from attempting to tie.
Kyrie Irving had his best game of the year for the Celtics, scoring 31 points.
Blake Griffin bounced back from scoring seven points Saturday to lead the Pistons with 24 points and 15 rebounds _ although he had five turnovers.
Andre Drummond finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Reggie Bullock scored 16 points.
Reggie Jackson didn't play in the fourth quarter.
Rookie Bruce Brown played well in scoring 10 points in 13 minutes.
With Langston Galloway shooting 15 percent from 3-point range, Casey turned to free-agent signee Glenn Robinson III off the bench in the first half.
Robinson has tried to force the action in limited time and he forced a contested, running fadeaway shot early in his run.
But he settled down.
