A man is facing charges a group allegedly pistol-whipped a man and stole his work vehicle in southwest suburban Burbank.
A 40-year-old man returned home about 4:30 a.m. Friday near 87th and Laramie when he noticed four men nearby acting suspiciously, Burbank police said in a statement.
Two of the men approached him from behind and struck him in the head with a handgun, police said. He fell to the ground and tried to fight back as one of them pointed the gun at his head.
The group grabbed the man’s cellphone and car keys, and two of them drove away in his work SUV, police said. The other two left in a white two-door Audi.
The pistol-whipped man entered another vehicle and chased the suspects, but lost sight of them, police said.
Officers found the stolen vehicle unoccupied and crashed into a parked truck near 83rd and Harlem, police said. One suspect was arrested on foot near 83rd and Sayre, police said. He was carrying a handgun.
Elijah Brown, 18, of Chicago, is charged with aggravated vehicular highjacking in connection to the incident, police said. He is due for a bail hearing Saturday in Cook County court.
No other arrests have been made, police said.
