Three men spotted acting suspiciously in a park led to officers recovering a firearm.
The weapon, a self-loading pistol, was recovered from Kirkdale recreation ground at around 10.30am yesterday (Monday) after a report three males had been acting suspiciously in the park.
The firearm has been made safe and forensically recovered.

A container believed to hold drugs was also found and tests are being carried out to identify the substance.
Detectives have opened a full investigation, including CCTV and forensic enquiries in the local area, and have carried out a dog search around the grounds.
Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald said: "Every weapon we recover is one less out there on the streets that could be used to cause fear, intimidation or harm.
"This seizure has yet again shown how vital information from the public can be in our efforts to remove firearms from circulation."
