Piri Piri fans set to enjoy new restaurant set to open this summer

Piri Piri fans will have a new restaurant in Motherwell to enjoy later this summer.

Pepe’s is set to open in Brandon Parade South on July 8 and is expected to create around 20 full and part time jobs.

The proposals were given the go ahead by the council late last year with no letters of objection received from members of the public.

The council planners report states: “The restaurant with takeaway is situated within the commercial area of the town centre where you would anticipate this type of development.

“The proposal will not result in a significant detrimental impact on the surrounding properties, the overall appearance of this property or the wider town centre. The proposed hot food use is also an acceptable town centre use.

“It is therefore considered that the proposal complies with the relevant local plan policies. As such, this application is recommended for approval.”

The plans are part of the restaurant chain’s expansion plans.

Pepe’s operations director Abbas Khan said: “Works have begun in Motherwell for our grill chicken concept.

“We have opened 91 stores and looking to open 100 stores by the end of the year with Motherwell and Edinburgh set to open in July.”
