Pirates reportedly deal Gerrit Cole to Astros, which could benefit Cubs

The Cubs have one less worry despite their relentless search for starting pitching.

According to multiple reports, the Pirates have reached an agreement to deal ace Gerrit Cole to the world champion Astros. Cole lost to Jake Arrieta in the 2015 National League wild-card game in one of the more memorable games of the Cubs' three-year playoff run.

But Cole, 27, has been a nemesis to the Cubs since reaching the majors in 2013.

The right-hander is 9-3 against the Cubs with a 2.50 ERA in 14 career starts (not including the wild-card game). He struck out 103 while allowing only two home runs in 90 innings against the Cubs.
