Pirates claim reliever Jhan Marinez off waivers from Brewers

The Pirates added a reliever Friday when they claimed righty Jhan Marinez off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers.

When Marinez joins the team, the Pirates will make a corresponding move. The 40-man roster is now full.

Marinez, 28, signed with the Florida Marlins in 2006 out of the Dominican Republic. He went from the Marlins to the Chicago White Sox in the 2011 trade involving manager Ozzie Guillen. In 15 games with Milwaukee this season, Marinez allowed 12 runs and 23 hits in 162/3 innings, striking out 14 and walking 11.

The Brewers designated him for assignment Monday.
