Pippa O'Connor says 'compromise and respect' are key to marriage with hubby Brian Ormond as she lifts lid on relationship

Pippa O'Connor said ‘compromise and respect’ are the secrets to her marriage with Brian Ormond.

The well-known couple celebrated their 10th anniversary last summer, with a surprise vow renewal ceremony organised by Brian.

Opening up about their relationship, Pippa, 37, who shares three kids, Ollie, Louis and Billy with the former TV star turned businessman, said the secret to their successful marriage is simple.

"Compromise is always a good idea,” she told Irish Daily Mirror.

“Respect is important too. Brian always says 'Happy wife, happy life'," she laughed.

The model-turned-leading Irish businesswoman, who works on many of her brands with her husband, also told how that has brought them even closer together rather than causing any clashes.

The POCO by Pippa and Up Cosmetics boss explained: "We both know what each other is going through, and that helps. We are not coming from having experienced completely different days.

"We are not beside each other all day, every day, but we know what is happening in the business. It is great to have a sounding board every evening."

The Kildare native was speaking as she launched a new business venture, new vodka brand Istil 38, created by drinks industry veterans Shane Davey, John Reynolds and Niall O’Dwyer Pippa is both an investor and creative director, and said she is excited for the new challenge.

"I just get so excited by new projects and being involved in new things. I think you shouldn’t pigeon hole yourself,” she said.

"I feel like I have done so much in business to date. It is date, I am standing here in The Westbury looking over at Movrs [Husband Brian’s footwear shop] and it has been an amazing couple of years."

"Once you have amazing teams in place, you have the ability to do loads of different things. Obviously, it is not just me.

"There is a team behind Istil, there is a team behind Movrs, there is a team behind POCO and a team behind Up.

"By no means am I standing there doing everything. It is possible to have loads of really good projects on the go one the right people are in place."
