Pipes, drums and cheers heard across the city as Glasgow joins in second Claps For Our Carers

Thousands of people across Glasgow came together once again to applaud all the hard work being done by NHS staff in the city.

The Clap For Our Carers campaign returned for the second time and saw people put their hands together from their doorsteps, windows and balconies to support vital frontline workers.

Residents in Glasgow first clapped and cheered from their windows last week - and tonight at 8pm they turned up on applauding and making as much noise as they could.

There was even piping and the clattering of tin pans heard in some parts.

Videos show the entirety of Glasgow taking part in the heartwarming movement - one reader sent in this incredible video of parademics joining in the celebrations in Drumchapel.

And over in Yoker, the carers themselves joined in, staging a dance party to entertain residents watching from their doorways and windows - well done, ladies!

Clap for Our Carers also has a website, comparing the movement to similar rounds of applause in Spain, France and the Netherlands.

We have to say this brightened up our evening - and made us just that wee bit emotional. Never change Glasgow, you're a lively, caring lot!
