Piper performs at Victoria Care Home in Blantyre for residents and families

Families of residents at Victoria Care Home in Blantyre were delighted to witness a piper performing live in the street - and briefly see their relatives from a distance.

Activities coordinator Danielle Devlin organised for some’ relatives to stand outside the care home (observing social distancing at all times) for the last weekly clap for carers on Thursday, May 28.

Staff then took the residents who wanted to participate out to the car park where Tam the piper, from Halfway in Cambuslang, attended and played for everyone involved.

A spokesperson for Victoria Care Home said: “It was an emotional event as families have not been able to visit the home during the lockdown and some were able to see their family member from across the car park.

“All staff in the home are so grateful for the support they have received from residents families during this time and also from the wider community. We can’t thank everyone enough for the countless donations we have received.

“We would also like to thank Tam the piper for giving up his time to come and entertain everyone.”
