Piper Perabo has been cast in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video spy series 'Butterfly,' joining the previously announced series lead Daniel Dae Kim and other cast members Reina Hardesty, Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, and Nayoon Kim. The show, based on the BOOM! Studios graphic novel of the same name, was ordered to series in May 2023 with a six-episode order.

'Butterfly' revolves around David Jung, a former US intelligence operative living in South Korea, whose past decision comes back to haunt him, leading to a pursuit by a deadly young agent named Rebecca. Perabo will play Juno, a brilliant and formidable woman who is now the CEO of an intelligence company. She is described as willing to do whatever it takes to protect her organization, with a complex relationship with her adult son who works for her.

Piper Perabo is known for her Golden Globe-nominated role in the USA Network series 'Covert Affairs' and has appeared in various TV shows including 'Yellowstone,' 'Billions,' 'The Big Leap,' and 'Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.' She also starred in the Netflix series 'Turn Up Charlie' alongside Idris Elba and has a notable filmography that includes 'Looper,' 'The Prestige,' 'Coyote Ugly,' and 'Cheaper by the Dozen.'

The co-creators and executive producers of 'Butterfly' are Ken Woodruff and novelist Steph Cha, with Woodruff also serving as the showrunner. Daniel Dae Kim and John Cheng will executive produce under their 3AD banner, which has a first-look TV deal at Amazon MGM Studios. Stephen Christy and Ross Richie of BOOM! Studios, along with Arash Amel, are also executive producers. Kitao Sakuri is set to direct the first two episodes of the series.
