Pioneer Press: makes sense for Vikings to use first-round picks on cornerback, defensive end

In his column about how recent signing Tajae Sharpe cannot fully replace former Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs, Charley Walters said what the Vikings should do with their two first-round picks.

Despite the team needing to fill Diggs’ production in the offseason, the Pioneer Press sports columnist thinks it makes the most sense for Minnesota to use its first two draft choices on a cornerback and defensive end.

Here’s also what Walters said:

“The way it looks now, it makes the most sense for the Vikings to use their first-round picks on a cornerback and defensive end. Utah’s Jaylon Johnson is an obvious choice at cornerback. At defensive end, it’s Iowa’s A.J. Epenesa.”

Walters mentions that the Vikings could draft Chase Claypool from Notre Dame in the second round. Considering the other needs the team has, and the depth in this wide receiver class, I could see that being a good call.
