Pioneer Press columnist calls current Vikings roster a ‘five-win team’

Minnesota has seen a lot of its veteran talent leave in the offseason, and the way Pioneer Press columnist Charley Walters looks at it, the outlook for this team is not good.

Walters talks about how oftentimes team lose talent in the offseason, but even by normal standards, this is quite a lot.

So far, the Vikings have reportedly parted ways with Josh Kline, Xavier Rhodes and Linval Joseph.

Besides those three, Minnesota has reportedly seen former players Laquon Treadwell, Andrew Sendejo, Jayron Kearse, Mackensie Alexander and Trae Waynes sign elsewhere.

It’s been an offseason of big roster changes, but Minnesota has freed up some salary cap space, and the Vikings have 12 draft picks in the 2020 Draft.

I wouldn’t say you could mark the Vikings down for 11 losses just yet, but if the team doesn’t sign anymore free agents, and some of its day-one draft talent doesn’t pan out, Minnesota could be in trouble.
