Pinstickers' guide to Grand National 2022 - full list of runners, horses, trainers, jockeys and tips

Pinstickers' guide to all 40 runners and four reserves in the Randox Grand National to be run at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday.

Last year's winner Minella Times tops the weights at 11st10lb, while Becher Chase winner Snow Leopardess, at 9-1, is the current favourite.

Here are the full list of runners with their trainers and jockeys and their chances rated out of 10:

1. MINELLA TIMES (Trainer: Henry De Bromhead, Jockey: Rachael Blackmore)
Superb winner last year, but returns out of form and 15lb higher in handicap. Return to Aintree may spark him to shine and with Rachael Blackmore in the saddle, anything is possible. Score 6

2. DELTA WORK (Gordon Elliott, Jack Kennedy)
Former Grade One winner who was back to form to deny Tiger Roll at Cheltenham last time. Stays and generally jumps well. Certainly has a chance of making frame at least. Score 6

3. SCHOOL BOY HOURS (Neol Meade, Sean Flanagan)

Good winner of the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown at Christmas and that is a good stepping stone to Aintree. But pulled up at Cheltenham in the Kim Muir. May go well now he's in the race. Score 6

4. ANY SECOND NOW (Ted Walsh, Mark Walsh)

May easily go a few places better than when a fine third last year. Bounced back to form with narrow win in the Bobbyjo Chase last time. Will be in the firing line again. Score 8

5. RUN WILD FRED (Gordon Elliott, Davy Russell)
Several fine performances in staying chases with two wins and seconds in last year’s Irish Grand National and Cheltenham’s National Hunt Chase last time. Could go very well. Score 7

6. LOSTINTRANSLATION (Colin Tizzard, Harry Cobden)
Won Grade Ones at Aintree and Haydock as well as being third in Cheltenham Gold Cup. Mostly been on downward spiral since. May take to Aintree, but unlikely to be involved in finish. Score 5

7. BRAHMA BULL (Willie Mullins, Brian Hayes)
Won a decent handicap at Punchestown last year, but pulled up in Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park and unseated rider at Cheltenham last time. Little to recommend him. Unlikely to finish. Score 4

8. BURROWS SAINT (Willie Mullins, Paul Townend)

Fourth last year, as stamina gave out late on. But travelled and jumped superbly to suggest could do better this time. A year older and off same mark he could go very close again. Score 8

9. MOUNT IDA (Gordon Elliott, Denis O'Regan)
Mare who has four chase wins, including in Kim Muir at Cheltenham last year. That race has been a good guide for this. Good jumper but inexperience may count against her. Place chance. Score 7

10. LONGHOUSE POET (Martin Brassill, Darragh O'Keeffe)
Interesting Irish challenger from a stable who won National in 2006. On his Thyestes Chase win at Gowran Park may run big race. Inexperience, with just six chase runs, may stop him winning. Score 8

11. FIDDLERONTHEROOF (Colin Tizzard, Brendan Powell)
Progressive chaser who has some excellent form. Seconds at Cheltenham last year, in Ladbrokes Trophy and at Ascot last time suggest he could go well. If he stays could get involved. Score 6

12. TWO FOR GOLD (Colin Tizzard, David Bass)
Two fine wins at Doncaster and Lingfield following by good second in Grade One company at Ascot last time. Progressive sort, but not run much over long distances. Tough task. Score 5

13. SANTINI (Polly Gundry, Nick Scholfield)
Former smart Grade One performer who was second in the 2020 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Only one decent effort, when second in Cotswold Chase, since those days. Hard to fancy. Score 4

14. SAMCRO (Gordon Elliott, Sean Bowen)
Former smart Grade One performer who was second in the 2020 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Only one decent effort, when second in Cotswold Chase, since those days. Hard to fancy. Score 5

15. ESCARIA TEN (Gordon Elliott, Adrian Heskin)
Third in National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham last year, but pulled up in Irish National. Narrowly beaten in Bobbyjo Chase and despite inexperience an interesting contender. Score 5

16. GOOD BOY BOBBY (Nigel Twiston-Davies, Daryl Jacob)
Progressed well with best win in Rowland Meyrick Chase at Wetherby at Christmas. Seventh off top weight at Kempton last time. Good jumper and has chance of going well. Score 7

17. ROMAIN DE SENAM (David Pipe, Philip Armson)

Pulled up in the Midlands National on his first try at an extreme trip. That was his only start since switch to David Pipe's stable and offers little encouragement for getting round. Score 3

18. COKO BEACH (Gordon Elliott, Jonjo O'Neill Jnr)
Has won two of 13 chase starts, so even as a seven-year-old is experienced. Seventh in Irish National last year and fourth in National Trial at Punchestown this year. But hard to see him involved. Score 5

19. DE RASHER COUNTER (Emma Lavelle, Adam Wedge)
Only one run in 18 months when distant fourth in Denman Chase at Newbury in February. Won Ladbrokes Trophy in 2019 and has right attributes. But injury issues may prevent him figuring. Score 5

20. KILDISART (Ben Pauling, James Bowen)
Made return after 462 days off the track when fourth at Newbury last month. Won Handicap Chase at Aintree in April 2019, but not same since and will be lucky to get round. Score 4

21. DISCORAMA (Paul Nolan, Bryan Cooper)
Excellent seventh in last year’s National and placed at Cheltenham Festival in the past. Second at Fairyhouse in February, and this sound jumper could get closer this time. Score 7

22. TOP VILLE BEN (Philip Kirkby, Thomas Dowson)
Fell on his only try over the National fences in Becher in December. Some decent form in past but not sure he’s ideally suited to Aintree challenge. May get round but not much better. Score 5

23. ENJOY D'ALLEN (Ciaran Murphy, Conor Orr)
Looks to have massive chance to be another Irish-trained winner. Third in last year’s Irish National and second in Paddy Power Chase over Christmas. Good jumper, stays and can triumph. Score 9

24. ANIBALE FLY (Tony Martin, TBC)
Now 12, but has been fine chaser in his time, place in Gold Cup and fourth and fifth in the National in past. Pulled up in last year’s race and appears on the wane. Glory chance is in the past. Score 4

25. DINGO DOLLAR (Sandy Thomson, Ryan Mania)
Second in Scottish National last year but pulled up over the National fences in Becher before that. Not been in form this season. Could get round but unlikely to do much better. Score 5

26. FREEWHEELINDYLAN (Dermot A McLoughlin, Ricky Doyle)
Won Midlands National at Kilbeggan in 2020 and landed an even better success in Irish National, leading for much of the race. Out of form this season, but could bounce back. Score 6

27. CLASS CONTI (Willie Mullins, Sam Twiston-Davies)
A distant 15th and the final finisher in last year’s National. Out of form in three runs since and his 11th of 12 at Naas on his latest run suggest he’s on downward spiral. May finish, but that’s it. Score 4

28. NOBLE YEATS (Emmet Mullins, Sam Waley-Cohen)
Only a seven-year-old and has had just seven chase starts, so looks up against it on first try at extreme trip. Ninth in the Ultima Handicap at Cheltenham last time. Very little chance. Score 4

29. MIGHTY THUNDER (Lucinda Russell, Derek Fox)
Second in Midlands National before win in Scottish version last year. Likes this type of stamina test. But has been pulled up on last two runs – one in Welsh National. Needs to bounce back. Score 5

30. CLOTH CAP (Jonjo O'Neill, Tom Scudamore)
Sent off favourite last year on back of wins at Newbury and Kelso. Pulled up and despite having wind surgery, not in same form this year. At best could go very well, but unlikely winner. Score 6

31. SNOW LEOPARDESS (Charlie Longsdon, Aidan Coleman)
Gave birth to a foal in 2020 and has run some fine races ever since. Three from three this season including superb win over National fences in Becher. Has a big chance of glory. Score 8

32. AGUSTA GOLD (Willie Mullins, Danny Mullins)
Won a couple of small field chases over shorter trips but has been pulled up twice this season. Second last time at Down Royal. Unlikely to enjoy big field or fences. Little chance. Score 4

33. COMMODORE (Venetia Williams, Charlie Deutsch)
Won his only start this season at Cheltenham in December. Has possibilities on that, but lack of recent run a worry. And no guarantee he will stay this trip after he sneaked in as the first reserve. Score 5

34. DEISE ABA (Philip Hobbs, Tom O'Brien)
Like Cloth Cap sports the colours of the late Trevor Hemmings – who won three Nationals. Runner-up three times season, but pulled up in Welsh National. Not sure he can do better. Score 4

35. BLAKLION (Dan Skelton, Harry Skelton)
Now a teenager, he ran wonderfully at Aintree over the years, winning the Becher, and finishing fourth in National. Sixth last year, but unlikely to get any closer now. Score 4

36. POKER PARTY (Henry De Bromhead, Robbie Power)
Won Kerry National in Listowel in 2019 and fourth in Paddy Power Chase later that year. Not really gone on from those and pulled up at Cheltenham last time. Little or no chance. Score 3

37. DEATH DUTY (Gordon Elliott, Jordan Gainford)
Former smart Grade One Novice winner over 2m4f. Won Punchestown National Trial and was sixth at Cheltenham last time. Could run a decent race, but may not get close enough to win. Score 6

38. DOMAINE DE L'ISLE (Sean Curran, Harry Bannister)
Been around the block and has a decent strike rate. A decent fourth in Becher on first try over the National fences. Was 10th in Eider last time. Should stay and may get round. Score 5

39. ECLAIR SURF (Emma Lavelle, Tom Bellamy)
Improving eight-year-old who has shown ability and stamina in some fine efforts this season. Won the Classic Chase at Warwick and second in the Eider. Could run a big race. Score 7

40. FORTESCUE (Henry Daly, Harry Nugent)
Decent form this year – distant third in Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock before scoring over three miles at Ascot. Good jumper but not guarantee he’ll stay. If he does could go well. Score 6
