Trainer Gai Waterhouse has won her first Oaks, as Pinot beat the best of the fillies to win at Flemington.
Waterhouse and co-trainer Adrian Bott sent Pinot out to beat hot favourite Aloisia, but it was a race in four at the turn with Pinot, Aloisia, Luvalova and Circuleight in contention.
Aloisia came under pressure in the straight, and Pinot hit the front and stayed solid to beat the Tony McEvoy-trained Bring Me Roses and Hiyaam to win the $1 million Group One over 2,500 metres.
More to come.
