Pink’s spectacular Tony Awards opening hailed as ‘best ever’ by critics and fans

  • Pop star Pink made her debut as host of the Tony Awards , Broadway's biggest night, entering Radio City Music Hall suspended above the stage in a nod to her trapeze stunts and the musical Peter Pan .
  • During her opening, Pink was interrupted by former Tony's host Neil Patrick Harris, explaining that she wanted to show her love for theatre despite never having been on Broadway herself.
  • To prove her theatrical credentials, Pink performed excerpts from Phantom of the Opera , Les Misérables and Wicked , even lifting Harris with her legs while singing “Defying Gravity”.
  • Pink's main number, “Leading Lady Marmalade”, was a star-studded performance featuring Lea Michele, Dylan Mulvaney, Shaina Taub, Megan Thee Stallion, and Broadway favourites, drawing a standing ovation.
  • Her hosting stint received widespread praise on social media and from critics, with many calling it “the best Tonys opening” and commending her talent and entertainment value.
