Pinkie Road in Musselburgh closed off after child knocked down by car

A road in Musselburgh was closed off after a child was knocked down by a car on Friday evening.

The accident was reported to police at 6.30pm on Pinkie Road near the junction with Ashgrove.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the road was sealed off in both directions.

Traffic was diverted via Linkfield Road until the route was reopened later in the evening.

Police Scotland confirmed they had been called to a report of a young child being hit by a car.

The child's condition is not yet known.
