Pink supermoon Ireland 2020: Best pictures as Irish public reacts to lunar phenomenon

Here is a collection of some of the public's best images of the majestic pink supermoon as it appeared above Ireland overnight.

People across the country waited up all night to get a glimpse of the largest and brightest supermoon of 2020.

And the lunar phenomenon did not disappoint, for the most part, as clouds did hamper some views of the Pink Super Moon as it graced Irish skies early on Wednesday morning.

While it was expected to be largest over Ireland at 3.55am, people still got to see it late on Tuesday night and during sunrise on Wednesday.

A supermoon occurs when the moon reaches its closest position to the Earth, known as the perigee, making it appear bigger and brighter than usual.
