Pink Ladies Choir to light up cathedral this Christmas

The Pink Ladies Choir are gearing up for a very special Christmas performance this week.

St Columb's Cathedral in Derry will host the Pink Ladies for their festive fundraiser this week on Friday December 17 at 7.30pm.

The Pink Ladies Cancer support group are tireless advocates for life after cancer. The Pink Ladies offer support groups and activities to bring together those who have survived a cancer diagnosis. For many, they are a lifeline.

In 2013 The Pink Ladies Cancer Support Choir was formed. Ladies who have had a cancer diagnoses and their family and friends who have been with them on their journey, come together to sing because it makes them happy, feel good and celebrates living life to the full.

The Pink Ladies are full of positivity and provide a light at the end of the tunnel for many who have gone through harrowing times in cancer treatment.

For this concert, the Pink Ladies will join forces with the St. Columb's School of Music to provide an evening of serenity and joy through this special Christmas concert.

Nicky Morton, Director of St Columb's School of Music, said: "St Columb's School of Music was established in September 2019 by myself and Louis Fields. It is now home to 230 students who learn a variety of instruments from our 14 tutors; including piano, singing, guitar, harp, flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, viola, cello and drums.

"Every Christmas, it is our burning desire to contribute, in any way we can, to the local community.

"We have done so in the past by providing music in local care homes, providing musical bursaries to those children with genuine interests in music and also featuring local community choirs at our Christmas Concerts.

"It is our absolute pleasure to host the Pink Ladies Choir this Friday, December 17. The concert will begin at 7:30pm in St Columb's Cathedral, Derry.

"We thank the Derry City & Strabane District Council for sponsoring the event.

"There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Pink Ladies Charity. We hope you can join us and support this very worthy cause. Arrive early to avoid disappointment!"

Admission to this concert is free, donations are welcome with all proceeds going to the Pink Ladies cancer charity.
