Pinegrove announced Tuesday they were cancelling upcoming U.S. tour dates in light of an accusation of "sexual coercion" against frontman Evan Stephens Hall.
Hall addressed the allegation in a lengthy letter posted on the New Jersey band's Facebook page.
"I want to begin by saying that my actions have caused someone i care about deep emotional pain and i am so sorry," Hall wrote.
The lead singer describes a relationship with a woman that was "complicated" and that he believed they "were mutually in love."
However, Hall acknowledges that he "monumentally misread the situation."
The statement also mentions other interactions with fans and people in the music industry where Hall regrets not having "more actively acknowledged my position of power as a public figure." He admits at shows he's evaluated who in the audience may want to sleep with him "based on how they watched me perform."
Hall writes that Pinegrove are cancelling their tour "in an effort to take time to make positive changes in my life and out of respect for what she is going through."
The letter also shares that Hall started therapy on Nov. 15 and he plans to "continue indefinitely."
Before the cancellation, Pinegrove were preparing for two sold-out shows at Manhattan's Irving Plaza and New Jersey's Starland Ballroom in December.
