A WOMAN has been flown to hospital after a fire broke out in a Catherine Street property at Swansea in the early hours of Thursday.

The female resident was flown to hospital after suffering an arm injury in the blaze.

Firefighters said the woman, 32, suffered full-thickness burns to her right arm and was taken to Belmont before she was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The fire broke out shortly after midnight in the property's lounge room but damaged only the contents of the building.

Police said the fire was not considered suspicious.

Separately, NSW Rural Fire Service crews were called to a blaze at Peace Parade in Pindimar late on Wednesday as flames erupted from a garage.

Crews were called shortly before 10.30pm to the blaze, which also burned a boat.

No-one was injured and the fire was extinguished.

Thursday's bushfire danger rating in the Hunter is Very High, with a total fire ban in place in the neighbouring New England region.
