They say the magic of the FA Cup is dead but then how do you explain Manchester United's opening goal against Aston Villa, with Fred and Scott McTominay combining to score?
Aside from the Champions League - which seems quite unlikely - the FA Cup is United's last opportunity to lift their first trophy in five years this season and they have got their tournament off to a good start.
It took Ralf Rangnick's side just seven minutes to take the lead against the visiting Villa and the combination for the goal was rather unexpected.
United maintained pressure on the Villa's goal following a corner and the ball eventually fell to Fred outside the area, who then swung in an excellent cross for his midfield partner McTominay to rise high and nod down into the bottom corner.
The duo has been much maligned by a section of the fanbase for some time as first Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and now Rangnick continues to play them together in the middle of the park despite their shortcomings going forward.
Yet the pair's industry and energy in midfield continue to see them keep their place over any other options and fans have been left delighted, if not a little surprised, that 'McFred' have now combined to score.
Man United have gone into their first game with Villa in a week - with the second coming in the Premier League on Saturday - without a number of players.
Rangnick has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Phil Jones have missed out due to minor muscle problems, while it's understood Dean Henderson was omitted from the squad as he continues to push for a transfer in January.
