Pilton Party 2019: Supergrass announced as special guests

The "big band" who will play this year's Pilton Party has finally been revealed.

The annual event attracts thousands of music fans to Worthy Farm and has previously been headlined by some huge names.

It is Glastonbury Festival 's 'thank you' fundraiser for villagers, workers and local people.

It first took place in 1984, with its headliner traditionally going on to perform at the following Glastonbury Festival, such as Liam Gallagher last year.

Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis previously told Bristol Live  a "big, big band" was reforming especially for this year's Pilton Party.

And today (September 6), the act was revealed as Supergrass.

Formed in 1993, the band was made up of Gaz Coombes, Danny Goffey, Mick Quinn and Rob Coombes.

The Oxford band's debut album, I Should Coco , was Parlophone Records' best-selling debut album since The Beatles' Please Please Me , and they then achieved international fame with smash hit Alright .

But in 2010 the group announced they were splitting up due to musical and creative differences, saying goodbye to their fans with a farewell tour.

So fans will be very excited to hear they are reuniting for the big event - which takes place tonight.

Supergrass self-confirmed the news on Spotify, where they revealed their next tour date was Pilton Party 2019.

Also playing the gig are Wolf Alice, who Eavis has already confirmed will be playing at Glastonbury 2020.

Yesterday, another star hinted he may also be playing next year's festival.
