Pilots meow and bark over radio before air traffic control tells them to be ‘professional’

Two pilots appeared to make animal noises, including meowing and barking sounds, over the radio while communicating with each other near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Sunday (12 April).

An air traffic controller swiftly intervened. "You guys, you need to be professional," the controller is heard saying on the recording.

The pilots, however, appeared to continue, prompting the controller to respond with a pointed remark: "This is why you still fly an RJ," a reference to regional jets, which in pilot circles are often seen as a stepping stone to flying for a major airline.

The audio has since circulated widely online.
