Pilot seriously injured as light plane crashes into South Australian vineyard

Damage to the light plane following the crash on Saturday.

A pilot has been seriously injured in a light plane crash at Renmark North in South Australia's Riverland.

South Australian Police said they received reports a light plane crashed near David Street at 6:15pm on Saturday evening, bringing down power lines.

Paramedics said the 49-year-old man, from Port Willunga, south of Adelaide, was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition with multiple injuries.

It is believed the man was the only person in the plane.

Renmark residents have told the ABC the plane crashed into vineyards near a dam.

Police said Recreational Aviation Australia will investigate the crash.
