Pilot at Bristol Airport battles Storm Brendan's high winds to make difficult landing

It was a windy day yesterday across Bristol as Storm Brendan hit the region, bringing gusts of up to 40mph.

For one plane landing at Bristol Airport yesterday (January 13) it was all a bit too much as the KLM Cityhopper flight from Amsterdam had to abort the first landing.

The aircraft was trying to land during the afternoon and by this point the wind had really picked up with gusts of 35 knots at the time of the aircraft's arrival.

The plane shortly flies back up to the sky, looking like it may even divert to another airport.

After a couple of minutes deliberating the pilot of the aircraft informed Bristol Radar ATC they were going to try and land again.

During the second attempt at landing, the wind was no kinder to the aircraft and pilot and looks as if it was even worse.

What is Storm Brendan?

The aircraft violently rocked side to side in the sky as it precariously tried to land again on the runway.

Luckily the skilled pilot managed to land the aircraft safely back onto the runway and no one was hurt or injured during this flight scare.
