Piles of raw meat dumped outside houses on residential street

Raw meat is being dumped outside homes.

Residents of Gwynedd Avenue, Townhill, Swansea, reported the gruesome discovery over the weekend, with some of the meat being in boxes, and others just being dumped onto the pavement.

The potential health hazard has been reported to Swansea Council's environmental health department.

Resident Paige Leonard said: "I work locally and I know it happens often, being dumped around the park, but I left to go shopping yesterday and it was practically on my door step.

"I’m sure there is plenty of places in Swansea for that to be disposed of and not outside someone else’s is house.

"I have terrible problems with litter and dog mess on the lane on which I live on Gwynedd Avenue but this is just something else.

"I’m not sure why you would look at a house and think this is a perfect place to dispose of this raw meat. It’s disgusting. I wouldn’t dream of of littering in front of someone’s house let alone leaving that.

"I know a lot of other local people have had the same happen if not worse and it’s just not acceptable at all."

Another Gwynedd Road resident who encountered the meat on the pavement near her home added: "It was dumped directly outside my driveway.

"I was disgusted to see it had been dumped. I have children and we go out daily so the sight and smell was stomach-turning.

"We gad to be careful my dogs didn't attempt to eat it when we left for walks too".

A Swansea Council spokesman said the waste cleared away after being reported.
