Piles of fly tipped rubbish cover emergency entrance by Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Piles of fly-tipped rubbish have been left covering a road at the back of Liverpool John Lennon airport.

Images seen by the ECHO show piles of rubbish strewn across the road that leads towards the emergency services entrance at the back of the airport.

Julie Prior, whose son found the rubbish while walking the dog yesterday (November 3) evening, said the dumping was "extreme."

Ms Prior, 62, told the ECHO : "I don't know who's dumped it. There was American food, a bag of rubbish, an ironing board.

"It was blocking the road at the turning point to the emergency service entrance.

"There is some dumping [in the area], but it's usually just a sofa or something. This is just extreme."

In the images, food packages including Twinkies, Cheetos and Fanta can be seen in bags and boxes.

Other images show toys and pieces of metal.

Ms Prior said she was disappointed with the rubbish as residents are trying to tidy Speke up.

She said: "There's a lot of fly-tipping in Speke, mainly around the alleyways.

"This road is out of the way, so they must think they will get away with it.

"We're trying to clean Speke up and it's better in a lot of ways, but why do that? Just take it to a dump."

Other residents of the area shared their disdain on the post in the Facebook group Speke Past & Present.

One reader called the dumping "disgusting," before adding: "Unless this stuff is very out of date too (sic) the 'dumpers' should have had the decency to donate it to a local foodbank."
