Pigs In Blankets pop-up restaurant devotes complete menu to festive favourite

Meat lovers are set to go wild for the world’s first restaurant serving nothing but food and drink made with the nation’s festive favourite - pigs in blankets.

Hailed by millions as the best bit of Christmas dinner, the bacon wrapped sausage leaves everything else on the plate trailing in its wake, according to fans.

Now meat masterminds at Bristol butcher The Jolly Hog have put them centre stage and created a menu dedicated to the item.

The Jolly Hog sells award-winning, British outdoor bred, RSPCA assured sausages and bacon – including pigs in blankets – at supermarkets all over the UK.

The carefully curated menu features sweet and savoury Christmas classics with a porky twist. Fans can expect to pig-out on scrumptious starters and meaty mains, such as ‘PIB Cocktail’, a take on the prawn and Thousand Island dressed dish, Mince PIB Pies, a throwback to the original recipe served in the early Middle Ages, and ‘Festive Fondue’, a baked camembert served with piles of pigs in blankets for dipping.

Chefs at Pigsty – The Jolly Hog’s Bristol-based restaurant where the menu will be available - have also created a shareable, showstopping Christmas Dinner Trifle – containing layers of creamy mash, cranberry-soaked brioche and pigs in blankets.

However, those who want to try the limited-edition menu will have to be quick. The pop-up will be open for just three days - opening its doors on Friday December 3 until Sunday December 5, which is also National Pigs in Blankets Day.

Olly Kohn from The Jolly Hog said, “We love hearing how much our customers love our pigs in blankets, and we thought it was high time these porky treats get the attention they deserve in the run up to Christmas.

"Something so delicious shouldn’t be relegated to the side of a plate of turkey and sprouts.

“As well as being packed with PIBs, our chefs have made sure every item on the menu tastes as banging as our bangers, because our customers are used to getting the best.”
