Piers Morgan wishes Alex Beresford 'good luck' after GMB spat

Piers Morgan has wished Alex Beresford 'good luck' after their spat on Good Morning Britain which led to the presenter walking off the set.

Speaking outside his London home in his first appearance since quitting the early morning chat show after his argument with the Bristol born weatherman, Morgan said: "Good luck to him."

He also hit out at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's allegations against the Royal family once again, describing them as a "diatribe of bilge".

The former royals were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey in the United States, which aired on ITV on Monday (March 8).

The couple claimed when Meghan was pregnant with Archie, an unnamed member of the Royal Family raised “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born ".

A statement from the Palace said while “some recollections may vary” they are taken “very seriously”, but would be addressed by the family privately.

Morgan's final appearance on GMB ended with the 55-year-old presenter tearing off his microphone and walking out live on air after arguing with Beresford over the allegations. He resigned on Tuesday night.

Speaking outside his London home, the presenter described his departure from the programme as "amicable", adding: "I had a good chat with ITV and we agreed to disagree," reports Birmingham Live.

Morgan added: "I'm just going to take it easy and see how we go.

"I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that's entirely their right.

"I don't believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she's done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible.

"If I have to fall on my sword for expressing an honestly held opinion about Meghan Markle and that diatribe of bilge that she came out with in that interview, so be it."

Piers Morgan said: "I think it's fair to say, although the woke crowd will think that they've cancelled me, I think they will be rather disappointed when I re-emerge.

"I would call it a temporary hibernation."

He added that he is "always in talks with people".

GMB continues to air each weekday at 6am on ITV.
