Piers Morgan weighs into Nigel Farage milkshake protest debate

Piers Morgan has weighed into the "milkshaking" debate in a heated row on Good Morning Britain.

The controversial host was debating Independent sketch writer Tom Peck after Nigel Farage was covered with a drink in Newcastle on Monday.

During a campaign stop in the city centre, The Brexit Party leader had a Five Guys milkshake chucked at him by 32-year-old Paul Crowther from Throckley.

Northumbria Police has confirmed he's been charged with common assault and will appear in court next month.

The bizarre protest has become a fixture of this European Parliament election cycle, with far-right candidate Tommy Robinson and Ukip candidate Carl Benjamin having already been subjected to the same treatment.

In a heated set-to with the writer, Piers Morgan repeatedly asked if the stunt would have been funny if a female politician had been targeted.

Reaptedly interupting Mr Peck, he said: "You wouldn't like it with a female politician.

He added: "Would you be finding it as funny - final time I'm going to ask you this - would you find it as funny if this was happening to Anna Soubray and other female politicians who've already been subjected to a lot of hateful stuff?... Would you defend Anna Soubray having a milkshake thrown at her?"

Keeping his cool as the host continued to harangue him, Mr Peck said: "I think it conceptually possible that if it were to happen to a woman it would still be funny."
