Piers Morgan to be replaced on Good Morning Britain next week and Doctor Hilary will also be absent

Piers Morgan has confirmed that he won't be on Good Morning Britain next week.

Since lockdown began Piers has divided viewers over his heated interviews with MPs and furious outbursts against the Government and their reluctance to put people up for interview on GMB, despite the fact they appear on other shows like BBC Breakfast.

He has been the subjected of hundreds of Ofcom complaints, most recently for his "humiliation" of MP Andrew Bridgen, who himself predicted that Piers' days on GMB could be numbered.

Last week a petition was even set up to get him sacked from GMB but there are plenty of others who have appreciated his no nonsense approach to getting answers on the way the country is handling the coronavirus pandemic.

Susanna Reid stunned by 95-year-old twins' secret to living so long

Well, love him or loathe him, Piers will be missing in action next week and so will his usual co-host Susanna Reid and resident health expert Dr Hilary Jones.

Announcing his break, Piers, 55, said it had been a "long old haul" reporting daily on everything's that happened as a result of coronavirus.

Piers, who was absent from the show at the start of the month after having a test for COVID-19, was then asked by Susanna whether he was going anywhere nice during the half-term and he quipped: "I'm going upstairs!"

He added: "I can't occasionally go to restaurants or go on planes... and we can actually come to work and we've probably been working much harder than we ever had. I haven't noticed much of a change."
